home is where the heart is

(Thrifted that pretty vintage chenille bedspread while visiting my parents last week... only $12.50!)
It feels so good to be home! I've been back at my own home for two days after not seeing it since I left for Hawaii. My house feels beyond energizing. It's like breath of fresh air every time I walk in the front door and realize that I'm back in my element.

I immediately ran up to my giant, plush bed and sank into my down comforter and smelled my clean pillows. They were just as I remembered them. Sandi found a bone in her toy basket and brought it to bed to join me. I wish I could have just stayed in bed but I was so giddy and so ready to unpack all of my belongings after the move. Let's just say, unpacking didn't happen as quickly as I had hoped. I was up until the 'wee hours of the morning trying to reorganize my 'junk'.
(I have too much 'stuff''.)
(This pictures makes me so happy (& proud, too)!)
After resting for a few hours I was back into the organization scheme. Does anyone else consider cleaning their closet and dressers and switching out the summer clothing for fall/winter items an accomplishment? It's hard work! I must have made about 10 trips back and forth to my attic trying to swap everything summery for my darker, warmer clothes. It's done now. Hooray! I was so excited to be loading tights, wool socks, and turtlenecks into my dresser drawers.

The following day my Nana, mother, father, and their 2 pups arrived. They'll be visiting me for about a week. Why? Because we're renovating! That's why I was only showing snapshots of my crazy-full bedroom... everything that was downstairs is now upstairs stashed in my bedroom and the guest room. We're installing hardwood floors! Laminate actually. Out with the dingy carpet and linoleum, in with nice inter-locking wood-like (except spill resistant and doggy resistant! Yes!) flooring. New granite counter tops, new tile back splash, new lighting fixtures, and new electrical outlets, too. A project and a half? Yes. For sure. I'm learning how to be quite the handy-woman!
That's that. I can't say enough how happy I am to be back on the Eastern Shore. It feels like home... because it is. I'll be back with tons of fun pictures from this weekend's festivities soon! It was like a big reunion of sorts. You never know how much you really love a place and all of the folks there until  you move away... and if you're lucky, you move back real soon! ;)
