I come from a family of gardeners, flower-lovers & hobby florists. For as long as I can remember, flowers were a major inspiration throughout my life.
Both of my grandmothers are constantly working in their gardens and sending me home with seeds and gardening tools. During my childhood, one of my grandfathers was always shin-deep in his Koi pond or building neat flower containers. My other grandfather tends to a dozen at-home beehives. My mother was President of our local Flower Club for years and introduced me to competitive flower shows at the age of 8. One of my dad’s favorite hobbies is pushing dirt and mowing grass. My uncle owned a landscaping business and I love hearing stories about his holiday wreath-making ventures.
Hearing stories from my family members and their gardening and floral trials excites me. It makes me feel as though my love for flowers was instilled in my genes.
I enjoy using up-cycled materials and things found in thrift stores, at estate sales, or from local auctions to make my designs memorable. I love being dirty and growing my own flowers. My design philosophy is earthy, romantic and unconventional. It is marked by bright colors, extreme craftiness, and unlikely pairings. I simply do what pleases my eyes and makes my heart sing. I strive to provide the best quality and craftsmanship available while carrying out my creative duties.
After graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communication, I spent several years working with local web design and online marketing companies. In 2011, I began taking floral design classes and knew that an office cubicle was not meant for me. In May of 2013, I left the office environment and created Little Miss Lovely. I am beyond thankful for the support I have received since the start of Little Miss Lovely and am excited for all of the clients I will meet in the future.
I met my husband while in line at our local Starbucks. We were married in my parents' backyard in Hershey, PA in August of 2015. Yes, I did all of my own wedding flowers, design & decor. Our wedding was a backyard party in which there were 200 hand-sewn napkins, a collection of mis-matched vintage china plates, several kegs, a BBQ dinner, a bluegrass band, and our family and friends. I think that our wedding will be my most favorite event of all time.
In May of 2018, my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Summer, into this world She arrived a few weeks earlier than predicted during Mother's Day weekend, prom weekend, and on a weekend with 3 scheduled weddings. With great organizational skills and help from my trusted LML team members, the weekend's events were all executed perfectly and I returned to work at the studio just 2 days after giving birth. There is no rest for a small business owner. I reflect on that time of my life now fondly and with gratefulness. By the time Summer was 1 year old, she had been to 20 weddings with me.
In 2019, after several years of having a storefront in West Ocean City, LML moved to an at-home studio. In an effort to stay-at-home with my daughter, manage my time wisely, and service clients to the best of my ability, we built a studio at our home in Bishopville, MD.
The studio is open by appointment only and is usually filled with fresh flowers ready to be turned into wedding and event designs and arrangements headed out for daily deliveries.
LML is open by appointment only. Scheduled flower pickups & deliveries are preferred. Please request a consultation to discuss wedding florals & event decorating services.
Closed Saturday - Tuesday for private events & good surf.
