This past Saturday, I was honored to be a part of a great benefit honoring one of my friends who is currently undergoing treatment for Leukemia. The event was titled Leukemia < Dan and was held at Seacrets to raise funds for Dan’s mounting medical expenses.
A few months ago, Dan Ellis was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He’s been undergoing treatment for the past several weeks and even though his immune system is at a 0, his spirits are incredibly high.
Dan’s been a member of Seacrets’ security team as long as I’ve been working there, plus some. The Seacrets family pulled together to raise some funds for him. There were more dozens of donations, more than 60 silent auction items, four DJs, and all tip money raised by the bartenders was donated to the Less Than Dan Ellis Fund.
I created a beautiful spring-themed flower arrangement that was placed at the entrance to the event where donation were collected. At the end of the night, the arrangement was gifted to Dan’s family. Dan couldn’t attend because his immune system is depleted, but his family thanked me several times for the flowers.
