The best words to describe this styled bridal shoot are woodsy, pure and innocent. I wanted the capture the feeling of a free-spirited young woman ready to set forth in a new journey in life. Lots of vintage maps, lots of textural fabrics, lots of wood items mixed with vintage metals.
The location, the Rackliffe House, was the perfect settings; tall, thin, young trees surrounded by tall green grass next to a beautiful historic home that dates back to the eighteenth century and overlooks the Sinepuxent Bay. The rustling winds and golden sunset provided a magical energy to the evening, too.
The props used, mostly vintage items paired with hand-crafted pieces, were collected and created lovingly. The blue dishes were hand-made in Morocco and provided a pop of color against a muted vintage map from the 1950's used as a table runner. The brass pedestal urn in the center of the table was filled with feminine ivory, peach, and blue blooms and hanging greens draped downward to lower the eye towards the freshly cut slice of wood it was placed upon.
Our stunning model wore a relaxed bohemian-style dress. The ivory, blue and black print paired nicely with a silver beaded bridal belt and silver jewelry but was versatile enough to dress down with a black beaded belt and gold jewelry featuring turquoise elements. The bride's look was completed with a garden-style bouquet and flower crown.
A tented area under the trees surrounded by vintage luggage and antique maps felt like the perfect way to convey the message of one starting a new journey in life. It was as if the subject could just pack everything up and continue on her merry way.
A naked cake was covered in fresh flowers, fruit, and placed atop a wood slice in the woods. It was art-like and eye-catching. The cake table was draped in ivory canvas and a vintage map was used as a table cover to continue with the theme.
Overall, the shoot felt innocent, young and ethereal and left us all wanting to plan a getaway. It was a pleasure to work with so many talented professionals to create something so beautifully natural. This evening was absolutely perfect.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this styled bridal shoot a reality! It was so incredible to see this vision come to life. I couldn't have asked for a better team!
