I have always had a love for sunflowers. In fact, my childhood bedroom was adorned with country blue border covered in sunflowers. My bedspread matched! Sunflowers are some of my favorite flowers to work with. Their thick stems and large heads make them slightly difficult to work with when it comes to bridal elements -- but that makes it more of a challenge and more exciting when the finish product turns out exactly how you had hoped!
Ashley was a bride who knew exactly what she wanted! She came to me with photos of 3 bouquets and one boutonniere that she liked and asked if I could do something similar... except for better. The finished product resulted in a mix of sunflowers, daisies, solidago, baby's breath & greenery.
Ashley & Donald's wedding took place at the
Green Hill Yacht & Country Club in Quantico, MD. It was the first wedding I have every made flowers for at this venue and I look forward to doing many more events there. The view of the river was absolutely spectacular!
The bride made all of her ceremony and reception decorations herself and asked if I would help create the flowers for her bridal party. Her color scheme of minty blue and burlap paired perfectly with the bright yellow, cheerful sunflowers.
The groomsmen bouts and bridesmaid bouquets were carefully wrapped in twine and tied with a mint ribbon...

The toss bouquet was a smaller version of the bride's bouquet but with extra greens for fluttering through the air. Wrapped in fancy twine ribbon with an ivory grosgrain ribbon...
The father's boutonnieres were single mini sunflower heads paired with yellow solidago and baby's breath, tied with two strands of burlap...
The little ring bearers were mini bouts of daisies and yellow solidago on silver clips, tied with twine...
The mother's wore wrist corsages tied with ivory grosgrain ribbon...
The groom wore a boutonniere of double mini sunflower heads, daisies, and greens wrapped in an ivory ribbon to match his bride...
The bride's bouquet featured a mix of large sunflowers, mini sunflowers, yellow solidago, baby's breath, daisies & greens. It was intricately wrapped in twine and ivory ribbon. A silver and pearl brooch was pinned on the stem wrap and matched the bride's gorgeous beaded belt...
Thank you, Ashley & Donald for letting me be a part of your wedding day! It was a pleasure working with you and your family! I wish you nothing but happiness and love throughout your relationship!
Also, thank you to the
Green Hill Country Club for sharing photos of the ceremony and reception on your
Facebook page.
