Summer is in full effect on the Eastern Shore. Isn't it obvious by this picture?
That photo cracks me up! Summertime is meant for creating memories, doing things outside, and hanging out with your friends. A few of my friends are in MD visiting from back home. Earlier this week we went out for a night on the town and ended up on an adventure. We were at a bar hanging out, listening to a man in a tank-top with a long pony tail play guitar, then decided to walk down the street and explore Ocean City's commercial fishing harbor... late at night.
Our fishing harbor is amazing. By far one of the coolest places in our entire town. Best part is, not many people know or appreciate how many great things come from this fishing harbor. It's practically the reason our town began in the first place. Fresh seafood drove people to our coastal town, the seafood business flourished, more people hung around the shore. Ta da. Commercial fishing at its finest! You have to love fresh, local, sustainable food practices.
The harbor always has at least 100 boats docked with so many more incoming and outgoing in shifts. I love seeing how the fisherman handle the fish, pull them off of the tanks on the boats, and unload crab cage after crab cage of fresh shell fish. It was so neat to see the harbor at a stand-still so late at night after usually seeing it bustling during the day.
Have any cool places in your town that bring lots of revenue to your city and encourage great local, fresh food? Thanks for hanging out and goofing off with me, Katie & Adam!
