Mods vs. Rockers! One of the greatest motor-bike related rivalry in all of British history... except in Baltimore! For anyone interested in '50's - '60's revolutions has to know about mods and rockers. I haven't really decided which side I'm on. I love my leather with hot pants and have my gruesome motorcycle license but I do love a good beehive and am know to go on road trips on my scooter. I'm torn.
Last weekend, I was for sure a rocker. Head to toe. I put on my finest black hot pants, a vintage Escada tie top, patent leather pumps and styled myself a nice little beehive and headed to Baltimore, MD for Charm City Mod vs. Rockers. I have to admit... When I was deciding when to book my flight home from Hawaii, I kept in mind that this event was scheduled for Saturday, October 1st... wanted to make sure that I had a nice reason to come home. & I did. Such a good time.
There were about 100 different vintage and vintage-inspired motorcycles, dozens of fun scooters, lots of vendors, The Garnet Hearts(whom I've seen play at least 10 times and adore), and a bunch of my friends whom I haven't seen in a long time. Makes for a lovely day!
To make things even better... there was a pin-up contest! & as you can see from the above photos... I went home with a trophy! Nothing like getting gussied up and leaving with a prize. I was awarded 2nd Runner Up, the lovely Lola Tangle from Hello Sailor Pin-Ups won 1st Runner Up, and the very pretty Cassie Dillon, a former Charm City roller derby 'gal, took home the grand prize. Congrats, girls!
Much thanks to all of the incredible sponsors who put on this event! I'll be sure to come back next year. I'll make it an annual thing. Hopefully it's warmer next year... It was a brisk 50 degrees that day! I flew in from 90 degree Hawaii less than 6 hours prior. Seems that temperature change caused me a nerve-racking head cold. Thankfully, its on it's way out of here. Yowzas Charm City Mods vs. Rockers!
Thanks to John Bubniak, a.k.a. Bubs, for taking all of these great photos! I didn't have my camera with me all day due to the festivities and am so glad that Bubs did. Check out Bubs' blog, or the Mobtown Cycle blog if you get a chance (forewarning that the Mobtown blog does have some naughty pictures on it.).
Congrats on your prize. I took a bunch of photos that day and they're posted on my site: http://retropopplanet.com/2011/10/06/charm-city-mods-vs-rockers/
