CASKET SPRAYS:
Large spray arrangement that sits atop a casket. These arrangements should only be chosen by those closest to those in remembrance; immediate family members often choose the type of spray needed. Sprays can be created to fit different sized caskets. Little Miss Lovely can add names, words, or sayings to ribbons for the spray. Different flowers and color combinations are available.
The spray below was created with an intentional blank spot on the top to fit a family heirloom that was added at the service. The ribbons read "loving wife", "children", and "grandchildren".
HEART PILLOWS:
Small "pillows" are often placed inside of or on top of a casket at a funeral service. children who are relatives of the deceased typically place these arrangements at the services. If not placed at the service, these pillows may be placed on the burial site.
The heart-shaped "pillow" below was personalized with the names of grandchildren in mourning.
ALTER ARRANGEMENTS:
Large flower arrangements are created to be placed next to a casket on an alter. Large vases are typically placed upon a pedestal on on a small staircase. Their beauty is meant to be a comfort to those who are grieving, and also to serve as a reminder of the spirit of life. When choosing an alter arrangement, keep in mind the spirit and personality of the individual's life you are celebrating. Choose an arrangement, flowers, or color scheme that is fitting.
SYMPATHY ARRANGEMENTS:
Memorial or sympathy arrangements can be delivered to a funeral service, a business or a residence. These arrangements help convey condolences to family and friends who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Flowers express a feeling of life and beauty and offer much comfort to the family. A card can be attached to a sympathy arrangement for delivery. Once at the service location, the card will be removed and given to the individual or family in mourning so they may receive the condolences.
The arrangement pictured below was placed in the entry way of a funeral home and displayed during services.
SINGLE ROSES:
Single roses tied with a small bow are presented to the deceased and placed in the casket at the services by family members. Placed in a nice vase adorned with ribbon, the roses will be on display for the family during the services.
POTTED PLANTS:
If you are not sure about the type of flower to choose for the funeral, then it is also appropriate to send a potted plant to the family of the deceased. If sent to the residence, usually a planter or a small vase of flowers indicating a person's continued sympathy for the family is suggested.
Shown below: Beautiful potted white orchids were on display during the services and taken home by family members afterwards. Each potted orchid was wrapped nicely in tissue and tied with ribbon. A single heart-shaped charm was added to each bow.
