Happy 2015! On Saturday, 1/3/15, Jenny & Joey said their vows overlooking the bay in Ocean City, Maryland and welcomed the new year in the most spectacular way possible. Their wedding was absolutely refreshing and a great way to kick off a new year of weddings, flowers & events.
Their ceremony took place upstairs at
Fager's Island. Fager's proved to be the perfect location for looking over the water on a windy, grey winter day while enjoying the view from a nice, warm, neatly decorated room filled with family and loved ones.
Jenny's bouquet was so full and dramatic. After I finished designing it and wrapped the red ribbons on the stems, I could hardly put it down. I wanted to stare at it all morning! There were so many textures, rich colors, fragrant blooms & the most interesting flower combinations. There were more than a dozen different varieties of flowers in this piece... and a few gorgeous red feathers.
Jenny's step-daughter and Joey's daughter played a special role during their wedding day. She stood along side of her father and held this gorgeous maid-of-honor bouquet. The bride's bouquet featured both red and white florals while the MOH bouquet was created using sole red flowers.
Both the bride and her step-daughter wore floral hair pieces. They looked stunning in their side-swept hair dos! Each hairpiece included a hand-painted red orchid, fresh freesia, star of bethlehem tops, fresh evergreens & feathers. The bride's accessory was marked by ivory tulle and lace.
The groom wore a boutonniere of a red-painted orchid, red-tipped freesia, star of bethlehem & cedar. It was wrapped in rich red ribbon to match the bride's bouquet.
The fathers wore similar boutonnieres that were wrapped in ivory ribbon.
The mother corsages were so detailed. They were composed of a red orchid, a white orchid, star of bethlehem blooms, feathers & seeded eucalyptus.
The ceremony and reception took place in the same room. Creating a romantic, backdrop for the ceremony was important. I sewed together two sets of curtains: one set of lavish red satin fabric, another set of thick ivory cotton. The curtains overlapped and were tied back with ivory tulle and an array of fine ribbons. A garland of plumosa fern and evergreen climbed up one side of the backdrop and across the top of the curtain. Two large floral arrangements were perched on either corner of the backdrop.

The red and white color scheme looked incredible with the decor at Fager's Island. The table centerpieces were simple: wine bottles (that were filled with wine made during the bride's bachelorette party) filled with a few roses, miscellaneous blooms & greenery. Red rose petals were scattered across the table centers.
The unity candle display was one of my favorite elements of this wedding. A large mercury glass bottle held a pillar candle with a florals. Three matching mercury glass candlestick holders contained pillar candles... One for the bride, groom & their daughter.
How cute are these custom cake pops?! They were created by
Yummy! Sweet Shop. I loved the cake caricatures!
Congratulations, Jenny & Joey! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness, love & adventures.
