Reducing, reusing & recycling... three words that I find myself repeating while describing Little Miss Lovely's business philosophy. Since moving into our West Ocean City retail location last February, LML has engaged in practices meant to help save you money, help reduce pollution, and help our local farmers.
Have extra vases laying around your home? Return them to LML while swinging by to shop! I will gladly reuse your vases - or- lend them to a bride to upcycle and use at her wedding. Check out the vases below, many were donated to the bride from family members and friends and others were picked up at local thrift stores. The vases were then wrapped in jute roping and - voila! - new, rustic, chic vases perfect for wedding centerpieces.
To reduce the amount of trash coming out of LML's flower shop, I purposely reuse old packaging, boxes, tissue paper & supplies. One man's trash is another woman's treasure, right?? You may have noticed that I reuse the packaging that some of my flowers are shipped to me in when you come to pick up an arrangement at the shop. The more cardboard, tissue paper & newspaper that we can keep out of a landfill, the better! If you'd like to become a little greener, consider donating your old vases and small cardboard boxes to LML.
All of Little Miss Lovely's excess greenery & compostable flowers are bagged at the end of each week and delivered to The Good Farm in Berlin, MD. (Follow The Good Farm on Facebook to learn about other chances to volunteer at the farm: The Good Farm.) The farm uses LML's discarded greens & expired flowers to create nutrient-rich compost for their plants, vegetables & fruits.
