Maggie's Birthday Soiree

When your mother is a photographer, is super stylish and loves a good get together - you know that you are going to have the best birthday parties ever. Maggie is the daughter to Kimberly Tucker, the creative presence behind Ocean City's Kimberly Tucker Photography. Kim had approached me with an idea for Maggie's 6th birthday party. Maggie had asked her mother for a flower filled, boho, party with feathers, lots of pink, and all of her little girlfriends. Kim delivered! This past weekend, I set up a flower crown workshop at Kim's home. I provided all of the supplies, flowers, and tools needed to create bohemian flower crowns. With LML's instruction and the help from their mothers, nearly 20 little girls build their own whimsical flower crowns. Pink, purple, and peach blooms and greenery were mixed with feathers and filler flowers to create one-of-a-kind crowns. Once all of the crowns were assembled, the group of girls and their mothers walked across the street into a small clearing in the woods that had been transformed into a whimsical landscape that any girl could get get excited about. The girls were so giddy when they saw a teepee standing in the woods! I set up my home-made teepee and adorned it with garland and flowers. Kim's vintage peacock chair, quilts, driftwood peace sign and heart added to the bohemian setting. The girls played ring around the rosie, sifted through the fallen Autumn leaves, and posed in front of the setting. Kimberly was armed with her camera and her crew. Between Debbie (owner of Eastern Shore Wedding & Events), Kim, her talented photo assistant Kenny, and LML - our hard work pulled off and the photos were nearly exactly how we had envisioned them. The girls posed in front of the teepee with their mothers and it made for the sweetest mother-daughter photo session ever. The few snapshots I caught of Kim interacting with Maggie made my heart melt. Check out a few photos of this flower crown birthday party... Aren't those flower crowns amazing?! As the party concluded, all of the crowns were boxed up and the girls were sent home with instructions on how to dry their crowns so they could save them for dress up parties and play sessions in the future. Best birthday party, ever! Thank you, Kim, for inviting me to be a part of Maggie's birthday! She is the sweetest little thing and I can't wait to watch her personality grow.
