This past weekend I had the pleasure of helping bring a bride's vision of a starfish themed, slightly nautical beach wedding to life. Regina had told me to keep with a blue, teal & white color scheme and then incorporate a few pops of lime green and orange into her arrangements. These nontraditional wedding colors looked so pretty, so fun & fit nicely into the reception's setting at Waterman's Seafood Co. in West Ocean City, MD. The bride carried a bouquet of blue blooms, large white roses, sweet smelling ruffled garden roses, green mums & greenery. Her sister, her Maid of Honor, carried a bouquet of large white roses, garden roses, green mums and several large bright orange roses with greenery. The bouquets complimented the groom's and best man's boutonnieres that were made of white sweetheart roses with greenery. The parents of the bride and groom wore boutonnieres and corsages made of small white spray roses, green mums & blue delphinium buds. I'm sure that the bouquets looked nice against the deep green ocean waters and bright blue sky of autumn that provided the background for their beach wedding. Waterman's was the perfect space for this couple's wedding reception. The chosen color scheme fit right into to decor at the restaurant. The centerpieces were created in a collection of rope-wrapped vases provided by the bride and her mother. I tried to keep the centerpieces very natural in form and of a little looser arranging style -- it was a relaxed beach wedding, after all -- I incorporated some tropical blooms like bird of paradise and orange orchids to carry with the beachy theme. Starfish were wrapped with wire and used as picks in the arrangements. Loose delphinium heads were scatted on the burlap table runners beside large pencil starfish. Miscellaneous tables and the stainless steel topped bar were accented with small arrangements in stark white ceramic pots and vases. Single stems of bight orange roses were placed in glass bottles and displayed on accent tables. Congratulations, Regina & Mike!
