baby's breath & brass nautical wedding inspiration

little miss lovely floral design // brass candles nautical fern centerpiece Baby’s breath is a symbol of everlasting love, pureness, and innocence. Who wouldn’t want those characteristics incorporated into their wedding day? Over the past few years, baby’s breath has made a significant comeback. Once thought of as nothing more than a simple filler flower, baby’s breath can now be considered a dramatic flower when used in centerpieces, bouquets and other floral pieces. Baby’s breath is long-lasting and inexpensive. This makes it a perfect flower for couples trying to stick to a strict budget while wedding planning. little miss lovely floral design // brass candles nautical fern babys breath centerpiece little miss lovely floral design // brass candles nautical fern babys breath centerpiece Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset This past weekend, I created a nautical-inspired tablescape using inexpensive baby’s breath, a few stems of whimsical plumosa fern, and a few seeded branches of eucalyptus. When arranged in large, lush, flowing tops and placed upon a tall cylindrical glass vase, baby’s breath can be a show stopper. In the base of the tall vase marked with baby’s breath and greenery were a few inches of beach sand, a piece of white coral and a bleached starfish. Several other glass cylindrical vases of varying heights surrounded the tall floral arrangement. Each vase was filled with a brass candlestick holder holding a white taper candle. This is the perfect way to get the look of romantic flickering taper candles at venues that don’t allow open flames… just place the candles inside of a larger glass vessel to enclose the flame. A few other pillar candles in varying brass stands surrounded the arrangement and created a nice little vignette of sparkling candles. A few stems of fresh, flowing fern leaves were placed under the candles to carry the feel from the baby’s breath arrangement towering above to the table top. The light ivory table linen was centered with a tan runner that featured a country blue coral design and a coral crab print. I loved the idea of the coral and crab accents to create a nautical feel while still remaining modern and not so maritime theme nautical. Gold chargers warmed up each place setting and matched the polished brass candle holders in the center of the table. A hemp wrapped photo frame tied into the nautical feel and was used as a table number display. little miss lovely floral design // brass candles nautical fern babys breath centerpiece Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset   Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset Hand-made and customizable favors were placed at each setting. Coral and country blue embroidery outlined ornaments in the shape of seahorses and nautical stars. Small tags that read, “Thank you for joining us on our special day!” with the couple’s initials were attached to each ornament favor. Your guests will love displaying these ornaments at their homes, especially during the holidays. Hand-made favors are always the best! Just remember to schedule time to create your DIY projects while planning your wedding so you don’t become overwhelmed by your ‘to do’ list. little miss lovely floral design // brass candles nautical fern babys breath centerpiece By using simple flowers, like baby’s breath and ferns, you can save a few dollars while planning your wedding and still achieve a ‘wow’ factor in your reception space. Pay attention to details: candles, chargers, table runners, and neat favors can go a long way while making over a traditional reception space. This tablescape was designed by Little Miss Lovely for the 2016 Lighthouse Sound Bridal Show. All brass items, table number frames, cylindrical vases, nautical accents, and gold chargers are available for rent from Little Miss Lovely. Customized favors are available for purchase from LML, too. Crab and coral table runners may be rented from Alison to the Alter. Cheers to those recently engaged and happy wedding planning! xoxo - Ami
