I did something really cool today. The Maryland Coastal Bays Program that I love so much opened their canoe, kayak, and paddle board stand at the Assateague Island National Seashore to the public today for a few hours. Of course I jumped at the opportunity to paddle around the Sinepuxent Bay with a few other eco-enthusiasts and water-adventurers. Most of the paddlers were just testing out the kayaks and boards since they were camping at the park.While I was out cruising in the open waters, I spotted this gorgeous jelly fish. Quite possibly the prettiest jelly I have EVER seen!...

Is there something, just one thing that you do when you need to calm your thoughts, center yourself, or clear your mind? For me, I can accomplish each of these processes while in the ocean. Surfing is a way of connecting with something bigger and something more powerful than I could ever be. The ocean is an escape for me. A place that will always make me feel reassured about my decisions and remind me who I am and what I stand for. This weekend was, by far, the best weekend that I've had in a long time. Hung out with my parents, some old friends that I haven't seen in a while, and worked on rekindling another, more intricate, friendship. It was great to get away from my little town in Maryland. Even though I love living on the coast, sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in an 'eastern shore bubble' and need to break free from everything here.
