Genesar

Genesar is a 2 and a half story brick home that was built in 1732. It's located in Berlin, MD - in the South Point area - near the Sinepuxent Bay. Genesar is labeled as one of the earliest developments of formal Georgian design plans in the U.S. Genesar was known to have one of the finest examples of glazed brickwork in the state of Maryland. Apparently, the home was vandalized in 1941. Whoever wrecked the building took paneling out of the home that was said to be one of the best colonial paneling on the entire east coast. Here are a few pictures...

Long Forgotten

I adore old things. It's like trying to figure out the history and past of someone or something. Wandering off to photograph some long forgotten home, abandoned business, or a historical landmark is one of my favorite hobbies. Apparently, this also makes me trespasser extraordinaire. I promise that I'm not destroying anything - just snapping pictures to document.I've already written a few blog entries about historic places and landmarks in our community (The Atlantic Hotel, St. Martin's Church, Shore Drive-In) and love seeing everyone’s thoughts about these fun sites. Salt Air in your Soul

Ever feel like you just need to get away? Escape? Reclaim your element? Check. Check. & Check. That's my day in a nutshell. I had so much on my mind this afternoon. I love going to the beach when there are millions of thought running through my head at a rapid pace. Good place to take out your aggressions and relax. Salt air is good for your soul. I hopped in the car with Sandi and we headed to Assateague Island at sunset tonight. It was beautiful. Exactly what I needed to get my mind straight and figure out what...

Swim Season

With all of the snow quickly melting today, it's made me think about how close beach season is... swimsuit season! I'm a swimsuit-aholic. I've got more than necessary, and that still is over whatever amount you're thinking about right now. I live at the beach. What can you expect? I'm constantly shopping for swimwear. There are two types of suits that I look for; Pretty suits to lounge around the beach and pool in and suits that I can be active in (for surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skiing, etc.). Definitely 2 different types. Here are a few suits that I'm...

Snow Day

It snowed here last night! About 5 inches! Crazy for the end of March in Maryland. I think the storm caught everyone by surprise... including my poor daffodils and snapdragons. The bay looks so stunning covered in a coating of white powder. My mother and I walked our dog on a local nature trail this morning. It led to runny noses, snow-ball covered paws and these awesome images. I think this will be out last snow accumulation of the season. However, we already assumed that the last storm would be it. Nature's good at surprises. I gladly welcome another snow...
